I was charged immediately even though I expected a free trial. Why did this happen?
Sometimes this happens if the trial period was already used before.
According to App Store and Google Play rules, a free trial is provided only once per account.
If a user subscribes again, the store may immediately charge the full price without a trial period.
All payments and subscriptions in the app are processed through the App Store or Google Play. The stores check whether the trial period was already used and make the decision about charging.
App developers do not have access to subscription and payment data and cannot change billing conditions or influence the store's decision.
These are standard App Store and Google Play rules that apply to all apps.
